Going for BOLD in 2015

At the beginning of last year (2014) I was introduced to the My One Word project at a church service in Wilmington. The idea is to pick one word for the entire year that will inspire you to make the positive changes in yourself you're interested in seeing. Just one life-changing word that you always come back to - to help you make decisions & re-focus. I was very interested in the concept, read the book, and got too bogged down with needing to pick the PERFECT word for my year...and so I never picked one.

I mean how do you summarize all the incredible things you want to do and change this year into JUST ONE WORD?! I was overwhelmed to say the least, and after trying out a few words for a few days and not feeling like I had the "right" ones, I abandoned the concept and went on with 2014...wordless. I know...totally disappointing.

Looking back I wish I had just picked one, even if it didn't feel perfect, it would have at least forced me to focus on something a little more diligently. I don't think it needs to be perfect actually, I think the point that you're choosing a word and following through in your life is the important part.

This year was completely different for me as I began to think about the process again. I don't even remember why it popped into my head, but I'm glad it did. This year I started thinking about what my one word would be all the way back in November. I went through a few word trials that were good, but not as 'all encompassing' as I was envisioning. Nothing felt quite right, but I was still optimistic and felt called to really pursue this process in 2015.

Then it happened. my.one.word. The minute it popped into my head I knew it was mine for 2015. I had an instant 'THIS IS IT' type of feeling.

BOLD.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
— Joshua 1:9

In 2015, I want to be BOLD.

I want to do things that I have been afraid to do in the past. I want to stand up for the things that I believe in. I want to pursue the things I am passionate about. I want to step out of my comfort zone in every area of my life. I want to live and love boldly. I am called to be BOLD.

So, BOLD will be my focal point of 2015. I will use it to inspire all my actions, all my goal pursuits, and all my relationships in this new year.

Have you ever picked one word to inspire you all year long? Maybe this is your year & it's never too late! Share with me your one word (and why) in the comments, I'd love to hear your life changing words!
